I’ve finally taken the plunge and bought an home treadmill, a long-cherished dream that’s now a delightful reality. Let me clarify right off the bat: this isn’t a New Year’s resolution. It’s something I’ve wanted for a while. I am not the type to go to a public gym, it is not who I am as a person. Prior to moving to this address I lived close to a river that I could walk around. When the weather was nice, I would do that almost daily. However, winter months are typically very sedentary for me and I have often wanted a treadmill to walk inside where I can regulate the temperature.
So enter end of season sales and there I was perusing through Amazon where I found this half-decent treadmill. I didn’t want to spend thousands on it, and I was realistic to the fact that its use would be unpredictable. So, I took the step and ordered it. It was surprisingly easy to set up and took minimal effort to get going. For the price and the ease of use it get’s 5 stars from me. This morning was my first real use, where I woke up and stretched, did some light strength exercises and then did an hour, and 2.75 miles on this machine.
There’s something uniquely empowering about this machine. Let me rephrase that, there is something uniquely empowering about getting some exercise in. Each step on this treadmill is a step towards a stronger, healthier me. And the best part? The after-workout high. It’s an exhilarating feeling, a rush of endorphins that fills me with positivity and a sense of accomplishment. That’s what I am stepping up to with this purchase. I have no crazy idea’s of how I’ll become beach-body ready by summer, or any outrageous ambitions. I am chasing the mental health boost it brings me after I break a sweat and burn some calories.
It’s an holistic approach to well-being. As I stride forward, I’m not just building muscle; I’m strengthening my mental health. It’s a meditation in motion, a time for me to reflect, process, and find clarity. The rhythm of my feet on the belt becomes a soothing soundtrack to my thoughts, helping me navigate the complexities of life with a clearer mind.
In embracing this new routine, I’m also acknowledging the aging process. Let’s face it, we’re all on that journey, and I want to approach it with grace and strength. This treadmill is a tool to help me age better – easing into my later years a little more each step with stronger muscles, flexibility and mobility. Too often we listen to the creaks and cracks our body is making and we translate that to more time resting. Our bodies need movement to perform well.
The beauty of this machine is its simplicity. It’s right there in my home, a constant reminder of my commitment to myself. No excuses, no barriers. Just me, my goals, and the path ahead. It’s a great little at-home machine, perfectly suited to my space and my life.
As I continue on this path, I’m excited to see the transformations – not just in my body, but in my mind and spirit. Here’s to many miles of happiness, health, and personal growth. Onward and upward!
